In one week I will be participating in The Lilla Rogers Studio School “Making Art that Sells” online course. Lilla Rogers represents around 40 highly-regarded artists—these are artists who make my heart s-i-n-g! She has made their careers soar and I feel it is such an honor to be among those who are taking her course. Oh, it is so exciting! I have butterflies in my tummy—just like I did on my first day of kindergarten. Today, I feel like I am standing on the edge of possibility. And, I can’t wait for the first assignment. I wonder how my art and my style will grow… .
Bag is packed. I am going to walk the Surtex Licensing Show tomorrow! Can’t wait! Maybe next year, I’ll have my own booth—anything is possible! Tomorrow, I will learn and take it all in. I will have my friend and studio mate with me—how fun is that! : )
We had our first ‘pop-up show’ Thursday morning! Myself, Christina Peckham, Rebecca Fishkin, Dana DiFilippo, and April Kathuria have set up our tables and welcomed friends into our Studio for a look-see. We had such fun yesterday. And, we will do it again tonight! Can’t wait!
The Water Still Flows
I started out my fine art career as a watercolorist. I showcase my watercolors on my website and also on my etsy store, and also my redbubble store where I offer prints of various paintings for sale.
I haven’t given up painting in watercolor. It is a form of creating that I love and will always love. I did take a break from it for a while—which is what led me to spreading my wings a bit. But, for those of you who know me and have loved my watercolors, you will be happy to know that I am still love working in this medium.
As a matter of fact, I have a painting that has been in progress for quite some time but I’ve been working on it a lot lately.
Above is a sneak peek at the unfinished piece. It is 19”x22” and I’m hoping to have it finished very soon—since it’s painted with the colors of first Spring leaves in mind. I can’t wait to share it with you when it’s framed and ready to hang!
Mixed Media Love
Using mixed media when making art is engaging and exciting! The entire time that I’m creating a mixed media painting or collage piece I am constantly pondering and considering. In everything I read, and in everything that catches my attention in everyday life—ideas and imagery surface. I open a book to any page and read a passage. I flip through a book of poetry until the glint of a word stops me. Then, at my table I begin telling the story of what these words mean to me. I tell it with color and paper—with things that have the shape and the texture of what the words have become.
It’s cathartic. As the time flies by, I feel like I’m soaring. My happiness is warm and glowing as I work. It’s my therapy.
You can purchase a print of the two paintings pictured here in several sizes on my webshop at society6.com/kimmoulder. You can view the originals and prices at www.kimmoulder.com/mixedmedia. Originals are available there by contacting me directly when you click chat.

Birds on lots of things!
Society6 is the coolest shop. I’ve added some more colors and products to my society6.com webstore! There are some greens, aqua, orange and brown with aqua. You can get a variety of print sizes in a variety of frames, or on canvas.
Also, you can find specially designed laptop, ipad or iphone skins, iphone hard case, a t-shirt in any color, a tote bag, and a pillow (with insert!). Very cool! I’m working

Birds in Flight
Birds have always fluttered my wings. : ) I created the first in my new “Fly Bird” series of illustrations a few years ago. It was to be part of a logo for my newly named design business, Littlebird Fly Studio. Well, a girl can always change her mind.
So, since I decided to go with my own name for my business, I didn’t need the illustration as a ‘logo.’ But—I loved it so much I thought it would be fun to make it available in lots of colors as prints, skins, pillows, tees, whatever!
Now, I’ve designed a second bird, and I’m working on the third!
I wanted to share the first two in the series with you here! Fly on over to to my webshop at society6.com/kimmoulder to see all the ways these fun little illustrations can be yours!
You will be the first to see the third birdie right here on my blog. So watch for it soon!
“The Studio”
This is our new studio! We are still in the process of organizing and furnishing, so I’m sure it will change several more times before we are nicely settled. I’ll share more pictures as it evolves. It is so great to have a place to ‘go to work’ everyday. And even nicer to be with other artists during the day. At home it gets a little lonely, and there are loads of distractions (and laundry :( ) … We are so excited!
Firsts
So, first I must introduce myself— I’m Kim Moulder. An artist, designer, wife, mother. Recently I launched my new website, www.kimmoulder.com, and set up in a new studio that I share with three fabulous artists (I’ll brag about them in later posts!). I am so excited to finally start my blog! This is the first post on my first true blog. And, I hope it is the first of many posts sharing my love of art and design, things that inspire, and updates on new work.
Hello!
